Retired Air Force General David Jones and retired Admiral William Crowe appeared before the Senate Armed Services Committee where both counselled patience in maintaining economic sanctions against Iraq, stating that trade sanctions against Iraq must be maintained for 12 to 18 months to gauge their effectiveness.
