Civil rights and religious leaders, as well as victims of hate crimes, talked about growing divisions within some regions and sections of American culture. They were particularly concerned with what effects hate rhetoric had on mainstream Americans. Among the issues addressed were the growing number of hate groups, the role of the church, and the use of violence to express hate. After a panel discussion, the group held a roundtable discussion. The meeting closed with an address by Martin Luther King III. close
