Governor Bush spoke to a group of Latino businessmen, focusing his remarks on education. He said that the federal government should hold schools to high standards and that, if the schools did not meet the standards, parents should be given the option to choose the schools their children attended. Often peppering his remarks with Spanish, he added that disadvantaged students should be held to the same standards as other students, since to do otherwise would amount to subtle discrimination. close
