Secretary of Treasury Lawrence Summers talked about the future of U.S. economic development. He focused on the progress that the government has made to reduce deficits and government spending. He stressed that now that the federal budget has a surplus that this money should be used to reduced the federal debt. This reduction would allow for tax cuts and lower interest rates to stimulate economic growth. After his prepared remarks he answered questions from the audience. close
