Attorney General Janet Reno and Assistant Attorney General Mr. David Ogden told reporters that the Justice Department would file a lawsuit against tobacco companies for conspiring to defraud and mislead the public about the health effects of smoking. The suit accuses the tobacco industry of promoting biased research, wrongly asserting that nicotine was not addictive, and falsely denying that they were targeting their products to children. After their remarks they answered questions from the reporters. close
