Sarah Erdman talked about her book, "Nine Hills to Nambonkaha: Two Years in the Heart of an African Village", published by Henry Holt and Company. Ms. Erdman, who now works for the Peace Corps in Washington, D.C., spent two years as a community development volunteer in Nambonkaha, a northern Ivory Coast village, starting in 1998. She described her work in maternity wards in Nambonkaha, including educating the village’s citizens on birth control and AIDS prevention. After the discussion, the author answered questions from members of the audience. close
