Mr. Pham talked about his travelogue, Catfish and Mandala: A Two-Wheeled Voyage Through the Landscape and Memory of Vietnam, published by Farrar Straus and Giroux. A childhood refugee from the Vietnam War, Mr. Pham explored his native country by bicycle describing his childhood experiences and detailing life there in the wake of the war. He also visited Mexico and Japan. He read excerpts from his book, reminisced about his experiences in the three countries, and responded to questions from the audience. close
