Authors John Sperling, Samuel George and Suzanne Helburn spoke about their new book, The Great Divide: Retro vs. Metro America. The authors, along with Democratic political pollster Celinda Lake, discussed what they see as a great divide in American politics. They defined “Retro” America as the South, Midwest, and Rocky Mountain States and “Metro” America as the East Coast, West Coast, and Great Lake States. They proposed a plan to strengthen the Democratic party in order to regain and maintain control of Washington. After the discussion, the panelists answered questions from the audience. close
