Participants examined two essays related to gun control and violence. The first essay focused on safe storage laws for guns and the reduction of accidental deaths. They stressed that safe storage laws might decrease the number of accidental deaths by handguns, but that crime rates would increase due to the decline in usefulness of guns for self-defense. The second essay focused on different violence rates between countries. They talked about how drug prohibition affects the rate of violence, and that those countries with higher drug abuse rates have a higher crime rate. After their prepared remarks they answered questions from the audience. close
