Commission members heard testimony about potential taxation of electronic commerce. They began by discussing various mechanisms and implications for taxation of international Internet trade, focusing on duties and tariffs particularly in the European market. This was followed by a more general discussion of taxing Internet sales and several different proposals for regulating e-commerce. The commission took a 20 minute break in the middle of this event. close
