Richard Panchyk talked his book, World War II for Kids: A History with 21 Activities, published by Chicago Review Press. The book describes the origins and history of World War II, from Hitler’s rise to power in 1933 to the surrender of the Japanese in 1945. The author said it includes interviews with participants, excerpts from actual letters written to and from American and German troops, and personal anecdotes from Holocaust survivors. He described the 21 activities included with the book that illustrate for youth how it felt to live during the period. During his presentation, Mr. Panchyk explained his process for writing the book, read excerpts from documents from the time, and engaged in activities with young people from the audience. close
