Former directors of the Congressional Budget Office discussed the impact of federal budget surpluses on business. They talked about the demographic pressures from increased numbers of older people on the predicted budget surpluses. They also discussed needed reforms and warned against spending the surpluses before they are earned. The Congressional Budget Office reports the amount of deficit or surplus to the Congress, from which Congress decides whether to raise or lower taxes and other actions. After their prepared remarks the panelists responded to questions from the audience. close
