Mr. Broder talked about his book Democracy Derailed: Initiative Campaigns and the Power of Money, published by Harcourt Brace. The book looks at the history of the ballot initiative, which is available in 24 states allowing voters to decide directly on issues ranging from physician assisted suicide to bilingual education and tax reform.
