KFI-AM, a Los Angeles radio station, broadcast live from Washington, D.C. during the week of January 14-18, 1991. In this telecast of KFI’s evening program, Mr. Peleg discussed the role of Israel in the Persian Gulf crisis. Mr. Peleg supported U.S. policy in the gulf and said that Saddam Hussein’s statement that he attacked Kuwait in connection with the Israeli-Palestinian question was unjustifiable. Mr. Frank believed the debate in the Congress over U.S. policy in the Persian Gulf was significant for the narrow margin in the Senate and for being the closest vote ever by the House in authorizing the use of force. He expressed concern over the president’s ability to go to war without Congressional approval. Rep. Dornan said he finally had to change his mind about Saddam Hussein as the deadline approached: having originally considered Saddam Hussein a clever leader, he now considered Saddam Hussein’s actions to be simply dumb. close
