Participants talked about various ways local broadcasters serve their community. Mr. Mfume spoke about the importance of diversity in broadcast programs and different viewing habits of minority groups. News broadcasters then spoke about violence in news programming and coverage of local stories involving violence and hostage taking. Mr. Witt then talked about news coverage of disasters and the impact that local coverage can have on relief efforts. All participants also answered questions from the audience. close
