Witnesses testified before a House Commerce Subcommittee about two proposed legislative measures that would make it unlawful for any person soliciting by telephone to interfere with or circumvent caller identification services and would protect consumers from abusive telemarketing practices. Among the other issues raised were the effectiveness of rules already in place, the degree to which senior citizens get targeted, and privacy issues. close
