This forum discussion centered on public education issues, including the “choice” system, the need for financial support to implement reformatory programs, and the threat to school integration. The “choice” system would involve the distribution of education “vouchers” to all students, allowing them the opportunity to attend private schools, or public schools in different school districts. Panelists' opinions differed as to whether “choice” would offer students greater education freedom, or would further devastate the nation’s already failing public school system, thus further depriving disadvantaged students of educational opportunities. close
