William Harris talked about his book With Charity for All: Lincoln and the Restoration of the Union, published by the University Press of Kentucky. The book, second place winner for the 1998 Lincoln Prize competition, examines Lincoln’s approach to reconstruction, and how his policies for reintegrating the South into the Union were implemented at the local level. After his prepared remarks, Mr. Harris answered questions from the audience. close
