Activists showed the “other America” in an effort to offset the prosperous image of

Philadelphia and America at the Republican National Convention. They took onlookers and

C-SPAN cameras on a “Reality Tour” of poverty-stricken areas of Philadelphia where numerous factories

have closed during the last twenty years. During the convention, they resided in a "tent

city" to bring attention to their cause. The activists considered housing, health care,

a living wage, and good education to be fundamental rights of every citizen. close
