Author Terence Ward talked about his book Searching for Hassan: An American Family’s Journey Home to Iran, published by Anchor Books. He told about visiting Iran to search for his friend Hassan, whom he had known when he lived there over thirty years ago. Mr. Ward argued that the impression Americans have of Iran departed greatly from reality and that Americans were largely in the dark about Iran’s cultural contribution to the world. He said that President Bush’s inclusion of Iran as a member of the “Axis of Evil” was misguided and that an attack on Iran would destroy any chance of progress there. Mr. Ward also talked about 9-11 and Iran’s reaction to it. After his presentation, he answered questions from members of the audience. close
