C-SPAN In the Classroom “Short Subject: Gives Teachers and Students an inside look of Government and Public Affairs. This Short Subject was on "The State of the Union Address.” A Historian, Donald Ritchie, Associate Historian Senate Historical Office, discussed the history the Presidents' State of the Union addresses. He stated that President Wilson, in 1913 went to Congress and delivered the State of the Union Address in person and since then, all other Presidents have delivered their State of the Union Address to Congress in Person. close
