A panel of contributors discuss It’s a Free Country: Personal Freedom in America After September 11, edited by the publishers of RDV Books, Danny Goldberg, Victor Goldberg, Robert Greenwald, who have connections to the ACLU. The attacks of September 11, 2001 precipitated a range of governmental actions in the name of national security that, while supported by most Americans, alarmed a significant minority of people who are vocal about civil liberties. Some of these dissenting voices are collected in this book which contains short pieces from dozens of contributors including journalists, writers, members of Congress, ACLU leaders, cartoonists and people who claim that their civil rights have been violated. After the presentations, the panelists answered questions from members of the audience. close
