Pete Williams announced the discovery of a large release of oil from Kuwaiti oil tankers and Kuwaiti oil refineries into the Persian Gulf, presumably released by Saddam Hussein’s forces in Kuwait. He labelled the act of dumping oil “environmental terrorism,” with the release of several million barrels of oil. The size of the slick will be over twelve times larger than the oil slick created by the Exxon Valdez in Alaska in 1989. close
