Professor David Levering Lewis talked about his book W.E.B. Du Bois: The Fight for Equality and the American Century, 1919-1963, published by Henry Holt and Co. The book is the second volume of a biography of the pioneering sociologist, educator, essayist, activist, and political theorist, the first volume of which received the Pulitzer Prize. In this volume, Professor Lewis examined the evolution of W.E.B. Du Bois' writings and the evolution of his ideas about politics, economics, and racial justice until his death in 1963. Professor Lewis responded to questions from members of the audience. close
