In the opening session of the Israeli Knesset, Prime Minister Ehud Barak and Likud Party Leader Ariel Sharon addressed recent violence between Israeli and Palestinian forces. Both were heckled by Arab representatives as they pledged to stand firm against Palestinian attacks on Israelis and to step up security measures.
