Mr. Baron talked about his book Now Is Too Late: Survival in an Era of Instant News, published by Financial Times Prentice Hall. The book discusses strategies to help companies and individuals with crisis and reputation management. Citing examples such as Enron and Arthur Andersen, Mr. Baron declared that public relations activity no longer has the luxury of time in the rapidly evolving world of communications. In the “post-media” age, the Internet allows the public to “go directly to the source” for information on events that create a risk. However, Mr. Baron also pointed out, the Internet can make mere opinion appear as fact. In his book Mr. Baron suggests preemptive actions that companies and individuals can take before public relations crises occur, including using current technologies. After his presentation he answered questions from members of the audience. close
