On Monday January 21, Prime Minister Major answered questions during the debate over a joint government opposition motion supporting the continued British involvement in the Persian Gulf. After debate, the House of Commons voted in favor of the motion, 563 to 34 votes. On Tuesday January 22, the question time was dominated by military questions and concern about support for the allied forces from Germany and Japan in the Persian Gulf. There was discussed over the lack of a strong unified European foreign policy concerning the Persian Gulf. Other items include concern for the homeless and a tribute to recently deceased King Olav of Norway. close
