As part of a symposium marking the 200th anniversary of the White House, historians and others spoke about the early history of the White House and its inhabitants. Among the topics addressed were early photographs of the White House and what they revealed about the presidency, White House architecture, life and work in the early nineteenth century White House, and the various presidents who occupied the residence. Following their presentations they answered questions from the audience. close
