Professor Achebe, a Nobel Prize-winning Nigerian novelist, was honored on his 70th birthday. On stage before an audience, Ms. Morrison and President Botstein reminisced with Professor Achebe about his writing and his life experiences, and about theirs. Achebe is said to have pioneered the modern African novel with his 1958 Things Fall Apart. Following their discussion, the panelists responded to questions and comments from members of the audience. close
