The theme of the Washington Press Club Foundation’s 47th annual Congressional Dinner was “The 102nd Congress: Welcome to the Big Leagues.” Several freshman members of Congress were invited to share their humorous stories about the transition to life “on the Hill.” Pulitzer-prize winning author and syndicated columnist Dave Barry was the master of ceremonies. The Everett McKinley Dirksen Award for Distinguished Reporting of Congress was presented by Cokie Roberts, congressional correspondent, to Richard Cohen of the National Journal. close
