The Wartime Abraham Lincoln
The Fortenbaugh Lecture occurs each year on the anniversary of the Gettysburg Address. The program began with a fife and drum performance of a Civil War-era song.
Martin Marty delivered the Robert Fortenbaugh Memorial Lecture on the topic, “The Wartime Abraham Lincoln and the Ironic Tradition in American.” He focused on President Lincoln as a religious thinker along with his religious beliefs. Following his remarks, he answered questions from the audience.
