C-SPAN opened phone lines to take viewer calls in reaction to the ongoing Florida ballot recount in the 2000 Presidential election. The Florida Supreme Court ordered a reversal of a previous lower court decision to end the ballot count. The Florida court decision meant that the recount could go on and include ballots originally ruled out in a prior ruling. This case eventually ended up in the U.S Supreme Court where it was decided that the recount should stop, which led to the election going to George W. Bush. close
