John Taylor Gatto spoke about his book A Different Kind of Teacher: Solving the Crisis of American Schooling, published by Berkley Hills Books. The book analyses the roots of the modern American education system, detailing how it was designed to foster economic interests and facilitate management of the labor force. It also offers ways to revitalize the system through emphasis on critical analysis, creativity, practical knowledge, and real-world exposure. The author’s lecture focuses on educational policy in the U.S., how children are educated in government operated schools, and the difference between private and public education systems.
