Government Cover-Ups

Nick Mangieri talked about his books “Broken Badge: The Silencing of a Federal Agent” and “Frozen Shield: Alaska Cover-Up", both published by Veracity Press. In the late 1970s Mr. Mangieri was a special investigator for the U.S. Department of Labor. In "Broken Badge” he maintains that when he discovered widespread sexual coercion and other illegal activites in the administration of DC Mayor Marion Barry he faced cover-ups and obstruction of justice by his superiors. “Frozen Shield” is an expose of his experiences as an Alaskan police chief pursuing massive land fraud and corruption by local politicians and apathy by state and federal officials to the allegations, and the reprisals he encountered. In his talk, Mr. Mangieri described the experiences he recorded in both his books, and explained the process by which he wrote and published them. After his presentation, he answered questions from members of the audience. close
