The House convened, starting a new legislative day.

The Speaker designated the Honorable John Shimkus to act as Speaker pro tempore for today.

Today’s prayer was offered by the House Chaplain, Rev. Daniel Coughlin.

The Speaker announced approval of the Journal. Pursuant to clause 1, rule I, the Journal stands approved.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE - The Chair designated Mr. Pence to lead the Members in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

ONE MINUTE SPEECHES - The House proceeded with one minute speeches.

The Speaker laid before the House a message from the President transmitting the third report to the Congress on the Operation of the Andean Trade Preference Act - referred to the Committee on Ways and Means.

The Speaker announced that votes on suspensions, if ordered, will be postponed until 6:00 p.m. today.
