Mr. Jones discussed his book Confederate Corsair: The Life of Charles W. “Savez” Read, published by Stackpole Books. Through this biography of a Confederate navy lieutenant from Mississippi he tells the story of the Confederate navy. The author, a civil engineer employed by the Department of the Navy for over 30 years, read stories of the Union and Confederate navies and discussed the impact of naval power in the Civil War. After his remarks he answered questions from members of the audience. close
