A Question of Intent
David Kessler talked about his book, A Question of Intent: A Great American Battle with a Deadly Industry, published by Public Affairs. He talked about how an investigation that he led of the tobacco industry by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration progressed to the classification of nicotine as a drug and the regulation of tobacco products in this country. He spoke about the investigation team’s strategy in exposing that the tobacco industry had knowledge that nicotine was an addictive substance. He also talked about the tobacco industry’s method of producing cigarettes and their marketing of tobacco products to children and nonsmokers. After his remarks he answered questions from members of the audience. close
