Robert Moses and Charles Cobb, Jr discussed their book Radical Equations: Math Literacy and Civil Rights, published by Beacon Press. The book describes the Algebra Project, which Robert Moses founded in McComb County, Mississippi, in 1982. The project teaches children math, drawing on grassroots organizing tactics developed during the civil rights movement. The authors believe that math skills can open the door to opportunities for young African-Americans. After their opening remarks they answered questions from members of the audience. close
