Bush repeated his claim that the Persian Gulf war was moral, just, and “the right thing to do.” He also said the air strikes against Iraq were working, wearing Iraq down day by day, and that the U.S. would prevail. President Bush also addressed the federal budget and the economy. He said that despite the current recession, the U.S. economy was fundamentally healthy, and that the administration’s economic policies would lead to recovery. The president answered questions from a panel of economists on U.S. financial policies. close
