Mr. Morse discussed Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary of American Writers and Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary, Tenth Edition. Mr. Morse explored dictionary-making in America, how language has changed since the turn of the last century, and the newest words to be entered in the dictionary. He further explored language from the perspectives of dictionary makers and from writers. Mr. Morse also talked about the C-SPAN series “American Writers: A Journey Through History,” how Merriam-Webster became involved with the “American Writers” project, and the companion volume to the series, Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary of American Writers. After his remarks he answered questions from members of the audience. close
