Jack Rakove reviewed James Madison’s political career and how his thinking and philosophies developed over time. He also talked about the role of James Madison on the creation of the constitution and the compromises involved. Following his prepared remarks he answered questions from the audience.

“Reading Madison’s Mind” was the first morning session of the conference “A Constitution for the Ages: James Madison the Framer.” The conference was part of the celebration of the Centennial of the Princeton University Graduate School and also the 250th anniversary of President James Madison’s birth. close
