Patrick O’Donnell talked about his book Beyond Valor: World War II’s Ranger and Airborne Veterans Reveal the Heart of Combat, published by Free Press. Mr. O’Donnell is the founder of The Drop Zone, an award winning website that is a virtual community for veterans of WWII and the interested public and a pioneering effort in oral history at www.thedropzone.org. The book mainly focuses on the veterans' never-before-told personal stories. After several readings from the book, and after hearing from several WWII veterans at the event, Francis Lamoureux was awarded the Bronze Star medal he had earned as a member of the 82nd Airborne Pathfinder Team during WWII. close
