Three biographers of Theodore Roosevelt discussed their motivations behind their choice of subject and explain their differing focuses on the president’s life, especially over the passage of time. They discuss the changes in scholarship over the years. Mr. Harbaugh wrote Power and Responsibility: The Life and Times of Theodore Roosevelt, published by American Political Biography; Mr. Brands wrote T.R.: The Last Romantic, published by Basic Books; and Ms. Dalton wrote Theodore Roosevelt, published by Random House. After their presentations the authors answered questions from the moderator and the audience. close
