Author Malachy McCourt entertained the audience with anecdotes, verse and song in celebration of his most recent book, Voices of Ireland: Classic Writings of a Rich and Rare Land, published by Running Press. The book is an anthology of modern Irish literature, poetry, and politics by twelve Irish writers. Mr. McCourt provides biographical introductions to works such as “The Playboy of the Western World” by J. M. Synge, “The Ballad of Reading Gaol and Other Poems” by Oscar Wilde, “Dubliners” by James Joyce and “A Modest Proposal” by Jonathan Swift. Mr. McCourt answered questions from the audience and led them in a rousing version of 'Cockles and Mussels'. close
