Today’s prayer was offered by the House Chaplain, Rev. Daniel Coughlin.
The Speaker announced approval of the Journal. Pursuant to clause 1, rule I, the Journal stands approved.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE - The Chair designated Mr. Miller, George of CA to lead the Members in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.
ONE MINUTE SPEECHES - The House proceeded with one minute speeches.
The House received a communication from the Honorable Joe Scarborough. Mr. Scarborough notified the House of his intention to retire from the position as the United States Representative for Florida’s First Congressional District, effective September 6, 2001.
The Speaker announced that votes on suspensions, if ordered, will be postponed until 6:00 p.m. today.
Mr. Osborne moved to suspend the rules and agree to the resolution
