Mr. Schlosser talked about his book Fast Food Nation: The Dark Side of the All-American Meal, published by Houghton Mifflin. The book is about the industrialization of food and how it has changed American culture. Mr. Schlosser discusses the enormous size and scope of the American fast-food industry, which he suggests has affected the management practices of many other companies, and how its idea of conformity has changed the look of communities around the nation. He also talks about the meat processing industry, the rise of the flavor industry to help make highly processed foods taste better, and an increase in obesity in the United States. Mr. Schlosser answered questions submitted by members of the audience at the end of the program. close
