The American Dream
Dan Rather
Mr. Rather discusses his book The American Dream: Stories From the Heart of Our Nation, published by William Morrow. The book is a compilation of stories of what the author calls “one of the most powerful ideas in the history of human achievement.” The author wrote the book after asking himself the question: Where is the American dream today? The book examines this notion through a series of personal profiles from people all across the country. The author asserts that since there is no typical American, there is no typical American dream. After the presentation the author answered questions from members of the audience.
