Professor Joseph Ellis talked about his Pulitzer Prize-winning book Founding Brothers: The Revolutionary Generation, published by Knopf. The book examines the legacy of the American Revolution and the intertwined lives of some of the leaders of the movement such as John Adams, Alexander Hamilton, Aaron Burr, James Madison, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, and George Washington. Mr. Ellis talked about the concept of these men being “great” and who was the “greatest.” This event happened at the end of the week when Professor Ellis was accused of fabricating his service in Vietnam and had subsequently apologized for the fabrication. Mr. Ellis did not take questions at his presentation but did while signing books afterwards.
