Vince Vaise described the history of the War of 1812, of Ft. McHenry, and of the flag Francis Scott Key saw flying over Ft. McHenry near Baltimore that inspired him to write the famous poem, later the U.S. national anthem. Video footage of Ft. McHenry was shown in the background. Mr. Vaise responded to audience telephone calls, faxes and electronic mail.

A video was shown of Ms. Thomassen-Krauss describing the conservation work being done on the original “Star-Spangled Banner” flag at the National Museum of American History. close
