Professor Alan Hirshfeld talked about his book, Parallax: The Race to Measure the Cosmos, published by W.H. Freeman & Company. The book details the history of astronomers' attempts to measure the universe. Parallax observation is “the apparent shift in an object’s position when viewed from different vantage points.” The author showed many slides of pictures from the book as he talked about it.
